AION symphony is with @helsinkiphilharmonic conducted by Eva Ollikainen tonight along with the Rite of Spring - a program that Eva and I curated in connection with my residency with the orchestra this season. I had been very much looking forward to being back there for this concert but was unexpectedly not able to go so will be there in sprit 💜 It has been such a joy to get to know the orchestra so well through the residency and I am deeply looking forward to further collaborations to come - more soon! Tonight is the Finnish premiere of the cello concerto with @cellistjohannesmoser and @helsinkiphilharmonic at @musiikkitalo, conducted by @jpsaraste - the performance can be live-streamed (link in bio) 🎶 Wonderful to back in Helsinki for this 🌸

Lovely to see UBIQUE on Tom Huizenga’s NPR top 10 list of albums this year This was such special project to release together in February with @sonolummusic and the gorgeous performance of @clairechaseflute , Cory Smythe, @tinkatonk and @sethparkerwoods 🩶 UBIQUE is in a large part inspired by the notion of being everywhere at the same time, an enveloping omnipresence, while simultaneously focusing on details within the density of each particle, echoed in various forms throughout the piece. At the core lives the idea of connection, of coming together and being as one. This manifests on various scales throughout the piece as sounds are both reduced to their smallest particles and their atmospheric presence expanded towards the infinite. The performers breathing together as one, carrying the calmness that lives at the centre, with an external madness that the piece never really reveals, but here and there gives a glimpse of, a world that it does not want to be a part of. ICElab workshop in March

I am very excited to be working with the NY based ICE this week on a new evening length piece that will be premiered in NYC fall 2013. Our workshop this week will end with a free public partial showing of the work in progress on Friday March 15th at 6:30PM at the ICEhaus in Brooklyn. For more information about the open workshop see here. The piece is written for harp, percussion, piano, viola & cello, and will include an installation.
